All films will be screened in the Black Box Theater at the Met School, where Fall Forum is taking place. Links to ticket reservations and more information about the films is available at http://www.essentialschools.org/events/8/event_details/86
The films are:

Parent Power: Education Organizing in NYC, 1995-2010, Thursday, 11/10, 5:30pm
Parent Power chronicles the work of education organizing in New York City during the past 15 years. Produced by the Annenberg Institute for School Reform (AISR), the film offers an extended case study of community-based organizing across the past fifteen years, supported by AISR’s community organizing and engagement staff. An audience-interactive panel discussion featuring AISR staff members, education organizers and parents featured in the film, and other local organizers will follow the screening.

American Teacher, Thursday, 11/10, 7:45pm
American Teacher is a feature-length documentary created and produced by Vanessa Roth, Nínive Calegari, Dave Eggers, and Brian McGinn. The film includes a musical score by Thao Nguyen and is narrated by Matt Damon. The film chronicles the stories of four teachers living and working in disparate urban and rural areas of the country. Their stories are told through a mixture of footage and interviews with students, families, and colleagues, as well as the teachers themselves. By following these teachers as they reach different milestones in their careers, our film tells the deeper story of the teaching profession in America today.

August to June: Bringing Life to School
August to June is an 88-minute documentary celebrating values we are on the brink of losing in the single-minded pursuit of higher test scores!  Come inside a public school happily and purposefully going against current trends and join 26 8-10 year olds, their teacher, and their parents for a year bursting with opportunities for curiosity, creativity and compassion. Discussion with filmmakers Amy and Tom Valens follows the screening.

We expect all of these films to "sell out" and advise you to secure tickets for any screenings you wish to attend.
