Job Description: West Sedona School, in Sedona Arizona is seeking a kindergarten through 8th grade GUIDANCE COUNSELOR. Specific elements of this job include:
Provides direct support service to individual students, small groups, and classrooms.
Conducts developmentally appropriate guidance lessons k-8.
Oversees implementation of bully education and reporting program along with principal and school resource officer.
Initiates student study team through for special education identification.
Conducts professional development workshop on identifying at-risk students.
Develops and oversees 504 plans
Assists students develop educational goals
Maintains records to document interactions, interventions and decisions
Refers students and their parents to community agencies, programs or specialists when appropriate.
Maintains a comprehensive list of district and community resources.
Keeps informed of current professional trends
Assists middle school students with course selections which are the most challenging for their high school and career paths.
Develops and maintains reward system for good behavior and citizenship
Qualifications: Excellent communication skills. Masters in field of social services preferred, inlcuding certification in school counseling.
