Additional Information: With great interest I am exploring the opportunity of working with your organization as math teacher and hence to make a contribution to the solution of the math teacher shortage. I learned about the position by means of Career Builder.
It is my belief as a Constructivist, that learning is affected by the context in which an idea is taught as well as by student’s beliefs and attitudes. The approach I have when teaching has its basis on my observations taken after lecturing and training people from diverse age and backgrounds, developed during my many years of professional experience as a system consultant, salesman, math instructor, classroom math teacher, and successful math tutor, lately, and during my early college years.
I would like to focus on math because this science has been viewed as a fearful subject for the vast majority of students. Such an attitude arises from the widespread misconception that its understanding is kept for the exceptional minds, which seems to be true thanks to an unfortunate way of teaching it, thus leaving many behind.
It is a widely held belief that math is more difficult to teach than any of its siblings, say Chemistry and Physics, but this is only because the experimental part of these makes their teaching more amenable. Well, the same can be done in math, provided that one knows how to do it applying an appropriate methodology and keeping in mind AIDA’s acronym from the marketing world which stands for Attention, Interest, Desire, and Action while teaching and knowing how to do it, I do.
This is the kernel of teaching in general and math teaching business in particular, for the “clients” are young people undergoing more rapid and profound personal changes during the sixth through 12th grade than at any other period of their lives, including the variability of change
Please note: mathematicians do math and good math teachers teach. So, if you are looking for a Math Teacher but artisan, you have read me well for math research is simple -it has to do with “things”- whereas teaching is much more complex, for it has to do with people!
I invite you to look at my résumé. In it, you will find a very seasoned professional, which when not directly applied to teaching, has been always involved with the necessity of demonstrating or instructing people from the most diverse ages and background. Let me ad at this end, that I can teach both, math and computer sciences, in English and Spanish as well.
