Additional Information:

Dear Principal/Administrator:

I am writing to introduce myself as seasoned Language Arts teacher interested in an opening in a middle or high school. I am presently teaching seventh grade at Central Middle School in Greenwich. As I recently relocated to Connecticut from New Jersey, I am seeking a school district that will be a better fit. I want to teach where I can make a difference in the lives of children.

Before relocating to Connecticut, I taught in the South Orange/Maplewood school district, in New Jersey, for ten years, where I taught all levels, all grades of Language Arts, and sixth grade Social Studies. I was well respected within the community where I taught and lived for over 20 years. In addition, I have three years experience at the high school level.

I currently hold an interim provisional educator certificate in Connecticut (015 and 205), and am scheduled to take two Praxis examinations in March. In New Jersey, I am certified in both English (K-12) and elementary, and highly qualified in both English and Social Studies.

I am committed to growth and success for my students, and I seek productive partnerships with my colleagues and student families. You will find in me a tireless and focused worker, an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher, and a loyal collaborator in the pursuit of educational excellence.

I am confident that my years of experience; my dedicated work with issues of conflict resolution, diversity, and race; my long-standing involvement with children and community; and my lifelong habit of study and learning have prepared me well for the continuation of my career in English education. I very much want that career to continue in a community near my new home.

I appreciate your time, and I look forward to meeting with you. I can be reached by e-mail, mail, or telephone.

Sincerely yours,

Pieta Cohen
