Harvard University, Cambridge, MA. Magna Cum Laude. B.A. in History and Science. Physics through quantum mechanics, history of physics, U.S. history and electives in literature and poetry. Class of 1996-97.

Lighthouse Community Charter School, Oakland, CA. (August, 2005 – present)
Lighthouse is a small, public, K-12 charter school that serves a diverse, low-income, predominantly Spanish-speaking student population. Lighthouse’s mission is to work with families to prepare students for the college or career of their choice.
Three years as core math/science teacher for alternating 7th and 8th grade. Currently finishing two-year loop with 8th-grade class.

2004-2005
Additional year of student-teaching of high school physics in Homestead High School in Sunnyvale, CA and 8th grade physical science and Algebra I at the San Francisco Community School in San Francisco, CA.

Previous Work Experience

1997-2004
Red Hook Community Justice Center / Center for Court Innovation, Brooklyn, NY.
Red Hook is CCI’s flagship project – the nation’s first multi-jurisdictional court, applying a problem-solving approach to Criminal, Family and Housing Court matters in front of a single judge. The Justice Center is a nationally-recognized leader and model for projects in Washington, Philadelphia, and Liverpool, UK. In six years, I consistently grew in responsibility from Junior Planner to Project Director.



Skills & Abilities:
Currently, speak intermediate-level Spanish and can call home or meet with Spanish-speaking families.

Formerly certified as a NYS mediator.

Lived, worked and studied in Kenya, England, Guatemala and Ecuador. Traveled through Central & South America, Middle East, East Africa and Europe. Interests include exploring the urban environment, hiking, cooking, reading and working with friends on grand, whimsical, often impractical projects.





Additional Information:
After four years in California, I am returning to New York City. I am currently looking for a middle school math and/or science teaching position for the 2008-2009 academic year.
