A Balanced Literacy Approach: Individualization Can Work
Facilitator(s): Melody Haddad

Workshop   +   Classroom Practice: curriculum & instruction   +   Elementary School
Silver Street School is an inner-city elementary building in Marion, OH. By embracing the Common Principles of the Coalition, the staff has been able to implement individualized literacy instruction from pre-K through fifth grade. Participants in this session will explore the essential questions and procedures that support a balanced literacy approach within the academic press of an elementary building. Believing that students "should feel known and valued as individuals," we will discuss strategies to implement an individualized literacy approach within the participants' own classrooms.
Date/Time: Friday, 4:00pm - 6:00pm   Room: CC 615   Session #118
