| Workshop + Classroom Practice: curriculum & instruction + High School |
| Join us as we discuss the trials, tribulations, and enchantment experienced during the development of an innovative, student-centered science course. Science Troupe was the outcome of a very successful "Chemistry Demonstration Day" at the local children's museum. We will explain the rationale and describe the process we followed to implement this innovative course. Tyner Academy students created demonstrations and activities using concepts learned that were based on the elementary benchmarks. The Troupe leads demonstrations and activities in third grade classrooms. Session participants will help refine and adapt the course for their purposes using a tuning protocol facilitated by Tyner students and faculty. |
