Reading in the Content Areas: Scaffolded Reading Experiences and the Final Word Protocol

Have the final word on connecting reading in all content areas to the Common Principles. This session focuses on helping students learn to use reading strategies to comprehend, analyze, interpret, synthesize, and evaluate what they read. Participate in and learn a protocol that promotes the Common Principle of student-as-worker and lets participants have the "final word" in their learning. At the same time, explore the reading process and learn how scaffolded reading experiences can help students get the most from their reading experience. Participants will receive a reading process resource packet as well as a format for designing the Final Word text-based protocol.
