Facilitator(s): Angela Taylor, Gerry Crocker, Drea Beale

Workshop   +   Classroom Practice: curriculum & instruction   +   Everyone
Are you frustrated by what your students do when you ask them to research? Do they just hop on the Internet and hit the "print" button? In this session, participants will look at their own approach to teaching research and examine a model for improving students' information literacy. Included will be such tools as conducting a pre-search, using graphic organizers and evaluating Web sites. The collaborative relationship between teachers and media specialists in enhancing research teaching will be discussed, and participants will develop an action plan to successfully expand the information literacy and research abilities of their students. A brief slide show will highlight a collaborative approach to teaching research tools, and sample research units will be provided.
