Students as Storytellers
Facilitator(s): Ann Sisko, Myra Gildenberg

Workshop   +   Classroom Practice: curriculum & instruction   +   Elementary School
Student storytelling can be a powerful tool for learning in the classroom. Storytelling can help students become better readers, writers, speakers and listeners; it can also promote a deeper understanding of content and provide important social and emotional benefits for the children with whom you work. We will briefly discuss the Storytellng Project we have developed with our students over the past six years (we use traditional Native American stories). We will then ask participants to select a short story (or bring one of your own), run through an abbreviated version of the program as we do it with our students, and practice telling the story you have learned!
