How Are We Doing? Assessing Learning Outcomes and Habits of a Graduate in a Performing Arts School
Facilitator(s): Cheryl Jones Walker

Workshop   +   Classroom Practice: assessment   +   High School
While the arts have been said to give voice, celebrate culture and honor heterogeneity, the Boston Arts Academy faculty has explored the dynamic tension of understanding and implementing the CES principles in the context of a specialized arts school. Faculty members will share lessons learned by creating and implementing school-wide habits of a graduate: refine, invent, connect, and own. A hands-on activity will give workshop participants the opportunity to invent an assessment tool and "try on" some of the Academy's assessment tools in the evaluation of their students' work. We hope to reflect collectively on the question "How are we doing?" as it relates to instruction, the quality of assignments and student work, as well as to BAA's school-wide assessment practices.
