| Workshop + Classroom Practice: curriculum & instruction + High School |
| There are many innovative high schools in this country, yet almost all of the innovations have been a variation of original classroom lessons based on standard academic subjects. Meanwhile, most meaningful learning takes place out in the real world. At the Met School, students learn academic skills through projects that embrace real-world problem-solving out in the community. Each student at the Met works with an advisor, a parent/guardian, and a workplace mentor to design a personalized curriculum based on the student's interests. This session will address how to apply the CES Common Principles by using the community as a learning resource for each individual student, thus making the work real. |
