Community as Classroom
Facilitator(s): Rasheda Carroll, Dr. George Wood, Wildwood Students

Workshop   +   Community Connections: community as resource   +   High School
How can a school create a dynamic partnership with the surrounding community? How do students benefit from diverse real-world learning experiences? Participants in this workshop will learn how to use community resources and experiences to expand and enrich their school's program. Individually and together, we will explore both what a school and its students can contribute to the community and vice-versa, and learn how to use asset mapping to define community resources. Participants will create an individual asset map of the area around their school and leave with new insight about ways to effectively use their community as an adjunct to the classroom.
