Building the Backbone of a School: The Human Relations Approach to Advisories

This workshop is designed to give teachers and school leaders concrete methods to personalize education for all students and improve student success. AI (Alternatives for Individuals) High School's advisory program will be presented in detail by students and teachers. Each participant will receive a packet of materials, including a detailed outline of program components, sample lesson plans, and tools for assessing student accountability and progress. Participants will understand how to make advisories the focus of their schools and learn how to implement the three components of the advisory program: goal setting, human relations curriculum, and student accountability for education. Participants will have the opportunity for active participation in curriculum activities as well as discussion and questions.
