Will Small Be Better in Denver? A Large Urban High School Becomes Three Small Schools in 2001-2002
Facilitator(s): Santo Nicotera, Nancy Sutton

Workshop   +   School Design: structures   +   High School
This workshop will explore the five-year school reform process of a relatively large, urban CES high school in Denver, CO that is being transformed into three autonomous learning communities this school year. Workshop participants will examine the building-wide restructuring efforts to date: student advisories, extended blocks of instructional time, exhibition of student work at the end of tenth and twelfth grades, and faculty CFGs. We will also analyze student achievement and school climate data, and explore the process and purpose of breaking the school into three autonomous high schools.
