If You Invite Them, They Will Come: Making Your School a Student and Community Resource for Technology
Facilitator(s): Reda Singletary, Debra Brown
| Workshop + Community Connections: community as resource + Everyone |
| An after-school technology center can be used to challenge students and unite your school with the surrounding community. In our After-School Technology Center, students not only assist other students in their work with technology, but have also become mentors to teachers, staff, and administrators. Because demand was so high, we opened the center to members of the community and provide free technology training. Workshop participants will be given ideas for creating this type of center in their schools, including suggestions on selection of employees, training, equipment, and how to invite the community in for technology training and classes. Empower your students with technology! |
