Investigating and Supporting Children's Mathematical Ideas
Facilitator(s): Elham Kazemi

Half-Day   +   Classroom Practice: curriculum & instruction   +   Elementary School
The way children think is fascinating! How can teachers interpret students' problem-solving efforts and help them become strong mathematicians? This workshop will help participants investigate how children's ideas about numbers and operations develop across the elementary school years. By examining student work and watching classroom videos, we will explore how classroom practices can support mathematical fluency. Participants will also have an opportunity to discuss current research on teaching and learning mathematics.
