A Two-Way Street: Inviting Parents into the School Community
Facilitator(s): Josh Gould

Roundtable   +   Community Connections: parent involvement   +   High School
Do your students' parents scare you? Do you find the idea of parents in your classroom terrifying? This roundtable is designed to help teachers create a learning community in which they, their students, and parents work together to support education and make parents feel like welcome, vital members of the school community. Participants will learn how to use technology (desktop publishing and class Web pages) to compose newsletters to send home with students and develop a Web-based forum for communication with parents. Participants will also learn how to involve students in the process of inviting parents and community members into the school.
