Youth Speaks: Empowering Teenagers Through Poetry

All over the country, teenagers are picking up the pen and taking hold of the microphone with a passion and intelligence that crosses lines of race, class, gender, orientation, culture, and language. Youth Speaks leads the way nationally in the youth poetry movement. Marc Bamuthi Joseph, Program Director and Mentor for Youth Speaks, will facilitate this roundtable. He will talk about the explosion of poetry among youth and discuss the different resources Youth Speaks has available for teachers in the classroom.
