Facilitator(s): Gayle Lever, Matt Winking

Workshop   +   Classroom Practice: curriculum & instruction   +   High School
Participants will explore the use of digital portfolios as a way to capture and assess student work. The philosophy behind this approach and its implementation process will be discussed, including student lessons and project possibilities. This session will highlight how students become actively involved in "doing" mathematics while gathering data, using Internet sources, and giving technology-based presentations. Presenters will describe how Phoenix High School in GA has incorporated "less is more" to satisfy the academic knowledge and skills standards of their large suburban school system while adhering to the CES Principles. Session participants will discuss, in triads, the feasibility and value of digital portfolios for their particular school.
