Vodemics: How Individual Teachers Can Integrate Vocational and Academic Courses during an Era of High-Stakes Testing
Facilitator(s): Rebecca Meacham, Garry Lipson
| Workshop + Classroom Practice: curriculum & instruction + High School |
| In this motivating session, participants will explore ways to integrate academic and vocational classes. This combination makes academic content more relevant, and allows vocational classes to have a more supportive role in high-stakes testing. Facilitators will generate a lively discussion by using video clips showing "real kids" enjoying academically challenging project-based learning. The session will inspire participants to develop lists of potential projects. Exploring the second Common Principle, we will learn how to redirect and motivate our students to become lifelong learners by constructing meaning from their own experiences through curriculum integration. |
