Pushing beyond Minimum Standards and Expectations
Facilitator(s): Allison Werlock, Jean Bragan

Roundtable   +   Classroom Practice: curriculum & instruction   +   High School
How do we ensure authentic teaching and learning in the midst of standards-based education? How do we push all students toward higher individual standards of rigorous performance? Is our performance level of mastery rigorous enough? While we may not have all the answers, we will look at what Sacopee Valley High School English teachers are doing to ensure our curriculum extends the learning of all students. In this roundtable, we will explore teaching methods that create a gateway to further depth and exploration beyond merely covering the content. We will also discuss how we can best support the students' movement toward thorough mastery and achievement.
