Promoting Teacher Research in the Essential School

Workshop   +   Cycle of Inquiry   +   Everyone
It is becoming more and more important for Essential Schools to provide documentation of our successes and challenges. We need to demonstrate our achievements. In addition, one of the cornerstones of the Essential School is the ability of members of the school community to ask and answer questions about their own practice for the purpose of improving teaching and learning. In this workshop, three examples of teacher research will be shared. In each case, presenters will very briefly discuss the process and outcomes of their research. Participants will work in small groups to define projects, discuss implementation strategies and brainstorm potential obstacles for their own research. Teams of participants from the same school are encouraged.
