Developing Purposeful Lessons Around Essential Learnings and Standards

Workshop   +   Curriculum & Instruction   +   Everyone
Using standards in the classroom is only a small part of being standards-based. Designing lessons that are purposeful and thoughtful and that address what is essential for students to understand--these lessons will have the greatest impact on student achievement. This is especially true when you share these learning goals with your students. Making the shift to being purposeful and thoughtful in the design of lessons is difficult work. As educators, we need to work together in support of our own learning as we change our daily practice to improve student learning. Participants will identify essential learnings, elements of lesson design and strategies for student involvement in the learning process.
