Keeping Your Feet in the Stampede! Creating an Intentional Essential Learning Community in the Middle of a Standards Movement

Workshop   +   School Design   +   High School
Trying to implement "essential learning" in the middle of a standards movement sometimes feels like being the last human on your feet in a cattle stampede. It is hard enough walking upright on the best days, without the panicked cows and the dust clouding our vision. It requires "intention". As a basis for discussion, we will present our own tentative efforts toward creating an intentional Essential Learning Community. We will try to develop better ways to keep our feet in the stampede, think about where we actually want to go, and maybe even a find renewed understanding of why it is essential to get there.
