Embracing the Common Principles in a First Grade Classroom Using the Four Block Literacy Program |
| Roundtable + Curriculum & Instruction + Elementary School |
| Our roundtable participants will learn the research base and the structure of the Four Block Literacy Program. They will learn through demonstration, participation, discussion, and games how to implement each of the four blocks. Connections will be made in each of the four areas to the Ten Common Principles of the Coalition of Essential Schools. They will see examples of books written by individual students and books written collaboratively as a class. Other materials received will be a lesson plan in each of the four areas: Guided Reading, Writing, Self-Selected Reading and Working with Words. |
