Everything the Public Wants to Know, But YOU Are Afraid to Tell

Roundtable   +   Community Connections   +   High School
Schools continually struggle with ways to involve parents, students and community members in the democratic process. As educators, we face the challenge of what information to share and how to explain our concerns to the public. At Sacopee Valley High School, we took a risk and shared honest school data based on our reform efforts. We presented our data in a simple format and opened up small group discussions about "the state of our school". The results were impressive and very worth our efforts. Participants in this roundtable will leave with a clear understanding of the value of sharing data with the public. They will also be able to use our plans/suggestions to create their own public forum session and make it a successful, learning experience for all!
