Student as Worker: Translating the Experience for College Admissions

Workshop   +   Assessment   +   Everyone
Here is a chance to understand how learning guided by the Common Principles is viewed by a college admissions office. Come play a simulation in which you read college applications with a team of people from "your college". Whom will you admit? Groups will compare reactions to applications laced with essays and recommendations about experiences of learning-by-doing as well as non-graded transcripts. The leaders will close with their own experiences on a campus that operates according to the Ten Common Principles, report on research they have done regarding other colleges' treatment of work-based learning, and share cases of CES graduates one and two years after admittance.
Presenters: Cheryl Keen, Michael Murphy
