Exploring Essential Moral Questions in the Classroom
|
| Workshop + Curriculum & Instruction + Everyone |
| As a nation, the culture of our classrooms is particularly adverse to serious exploration of subjects that are potentially controversial or not easily given to testing. Given the pressures of "coverage" and pressure from parents and administrators to avoid controversy, even complex, morally charged topics are often approached as chunks of information to be ingested rather than as living, complex questions to be explored. The same is true across the subject areas, wherever potential controversy looms. This workshop, led by staff from CES National, will engage participants in sharing their experiences exploring moral issues in the classroom, discussing pitfalls, and finding strategies to conduct responsible, probing discussions around these issues. |
