"A Taste of the Arts": Fostering Student Independence, Curriculum Diversity, and Community Connections in the Humanities
|
| Workshop + Curriculum & Instruction + High School |
| Participants in this workshop will learn how an individual teacher in a large non-Coalition public high school has enhanced the education of his students by incorporating elements of the Ten Common Principles into his humanities course curriculum. "A Taste of the Arts" is a year-long arts program that students tailor to personal goals of expanding their humanities knowledge base as well as enriching their interests in the arts. The three presenters will address curriculum diversity, the student as worker, and community connections. Participants will leave with printed materials that will allow them to incorporate elements of the program into their curriculum. |
