Building a Bridge of Acceptance

Roundtable   +   Curriculum & Instruction   +   High School
Across the nation, the special education population is growing, but acceptance of those with disabilities seems to develop at a slower rate. J. L. Mann Academy has a large special education population, and has created a program that educates students about disabilities, encourages interaction between general and special education students, and promotes acceptance of disabilities throughout the school population. In this roundtable, presenters will introduce a peer-tutoring program that has proven to be successful. Participants will receive information that will enable them to implement a similar program in their own schools, as well as discuss strategies to promote acceptance of students with disabilities.
