From Mickey Mouse to Photojournals: Embedding Our "Habits of Mind" |

| Five teachers and the school principal of South Lawrence East present this workshop to explore our school's work on developing and implementing "habits of mind". These habits have become a central focus for our work with students, parents, and staff, helping to embed the belief that all members of the school should use their minds well. Participants will be provided with a brief overview of the South Lawrence East School, a large urban setting committed to a culturally diverse community of learners. Teachers will provide unique personal experiences and perspectives related to their work with the habits. These include innovative connections and approaches, such as the use of Disney characters for primary grades and a photojournalism class as an exploratory offering in middle school. Additionally, attendees will be treated to a brief video presentation, handouts, and time provided for questions in smaller personalized groups with individual presenters. |
