No School on Wednesdays? Community Service and Inquiry Programs

Workshop   +   Cycle of Inquiry   +   High School
Community service and inquiry are unique and powerful parts of the Gailer School curriculum. Instead of attending regular classes at school on Wednesdays, students are engaged in two off-site programs: service learning at a non-profit organization of their choice and independent study on a project of their own design. Presenters will discuss specific steps involved in the implementation and assessment of these programs. Students will discuss a wide range of community service and Inquiry projects and their impact on their communities. Participants will be able to examine program materials such as community service journals, inquiry exhibits and on-site videos, and to discuss opportunities for independent learning in the community.
