Authors' Cafe |
| Roundtable + Curriculum & Instruction + High School |
| Enter the Authors' Cafe, indulge your senses, and learn how teachers at North Kansas City High School blend CES principles with performance assessment in an atmosphere of trust and decency. Learn how to set up an environment in which students create and share original poetry and fiction. You will receive handouts for an entire unit, view samples of student publications, and watch taped excerpts of the Authors' Cafe in action. Students who write and read for the Authors' Cafe in this CES high school learn to take risks with their writing and with the content of their work. The bonds created within such a classroom help teachers and students understand authentic learning in a school determined to improve through CES Principles. |
