Habits of Mind and Heart – 6-12 grades

In order to engender students who are lifelong learners, the central mission of education should address both students’ intellectual growth and the development of their personal qualities and abilities. To implement this mission, Wildwood School uses seven Habits of Mind and Heart to guide and support its curriculum, assessments, and school culture. The Habits of Mind - Perspective, Evidence, Connection, and Convention, and the Habits of Heart - Collaboration, Service to the Common Good and Ethical Behavior, have a solid foundation in cognitive research. The workshop includes: theoretical foundations that underlie the use of habits, cognitive research, practical application in a school setting, how to develop and implement habits that fit your school’s mission and culture, and benefits for students.
