Description: Advisory Programs – 6-12 grades
May 1 and 2, 2008
Advisory is the key to providing a small, personalized school environment in which every student is known well. Advisory programs allow students to learn more about themselves and each other; develop an atmosphere of trust and support between teachers and students; and provide multiple opportunities for meaningful advisor and student interaction. Advisors act as mentors to a small group of 12-15 students and are the key contact between the school and their students’ families. Learn about the benefits that a structured advisory program can have in your school or get new ideas on how to expand or improve an existing advisory program. The workshop includes: observations of advisory groups at Wildwood School, advisory design, advisory curriculum and protocols, implementation training, and one-on-one support for each school’s unique needs.
