| Message: | Dear Colleagues,
We write to let you know that the two of us, Kathy Simon and Vanessa Coleman, have decided to begin a transition out of our roles as co-Executive Directors at CES National. For both of us, it's not the attraction of new jobs that draws us away from this role, but different kinds of life changes. Kathy would like to devote more of her time to parenting. Vanessa is in the midst of a doctoral program, and will soon begin the intensive period of research and writing.
We are, thus, about to launch a national search for a new Executive Director. We expect the transition to be quite smooth, with Vanessa assisting at half-time after that date for several months to help oversee the transition, and Kathy consulting for the organization at 20-40% time, to the extent that that is beneficial, helping to shepherd key projects.
As many of you know, CES is now celebrating its twentieth anniversary and remains one of the foremost school reform organizations in the country. The new Executive Director will join a talented staff, take leadership over an innovative and coherent set of programs, and have the support of a strong, highly committed board of directors.
We seek your help in finding outstanding candidates for this position. The job announcement is located at
http://www.essentialschools.org/cs/about/view/ces_jobs/604
on the CES Web site and is also pasted in below. Please pass the position announcement along to your networks and colleagues, and please feel free to contact us with any questions about the position. The deadline for applications is May 20, 2004.
It has been our great honor to work for this organization over the past several years. We feel so very grateful to be a part of this network, and for the work that you're doing to help create more humane schools for kids.
Warmest regards,
Vanessa and Kathy
