Mission:  The mission of the LACES is to facilitate networks of schools, educators, and organizations in the continuous improvement of learning for all students and to support ongoing whole school change as embodied in the 10 Common Principles of the Coalition of Essential Schools
Services/Strategies:  LACES supports 4 projects: 1) School Membership Project which supports schools aligning their practices with the CES 10 Common Principles; 2) WorkingPrinciples Project for schools undertaking practices of one or more of the CES Principles; and 3) the River School Project which, in collaboration with FoLAR (Friends of the L.A. River, is a demonstration project for secondary school students and teachers involving environmental education, field studies, authentic performance assessments, and integrated curricular studies; 4) Small Schools Resource Center which supports the program work of small public charter schools and comprehensive large secondary schools reconfiguring themselves as small schools.
