The Mission Statement included here was developed during the 1995-1996 school year by the School Improvement
Team. This revised Mission Statement is the basis for the five year plan for educational improvement plan that was
written by the School Improvement Team.
"The mission of the staff of John F. Kennedy High School will be to work together with the parents, institutions of higher
learning, business and community members to create a nurturing environment in which children feel valued, develop
their unique abilities, strive to achieve academic excellence, and develop marketable skills that will help them to enjoy
a life that is filled with success and personal fulfillment. Parental involvement is felt to be a strong component of a
successful school and total educational experience for students.
This mission is based upon the belief that all children can learn and that every effort must be made to insure that
students are provided with a thorough and efficient education in a safe environment where students fulfill their
academic potential. The school vision professes a belief that students should be exposed to a variety of multicultural
and technological experiences which will enhance their understanding of people and help them to gain the knowledge
of the important skills necessary to achieve success in the world of work. Staff members are encouraged to develop
methods and techniques which foster the use of higher order critical thinking skills and collaborative learning.
Further, the emotional and social growth of our students is considered an integral part of our curriculum. Our individual
goals and objectives for this academic year will reflect our mission statement and emphasize the sound fundamentals
for achieving success in life skills."
