Vision
The Castlemont Business and Information Technology School (CBITS) is one of the three new small high schools emerging from Castlemont High School. CBITS will combine the best of what Castlemont has offered in the past with the positives of a small school environment - a strong sense of being well-known and belonging to a supportive community. We welcome all students - including Special Education, English Language Learners, and GATE students - to a rigorous academic program that will prepare them to attend a four-year university. Special emphasis will be given to the development of students' technical and analytical skills. The school will graduate students with outstanding character, citizenship, and problem-solving abilities. Through problem-based learning experiences, students will also develop skills enabling them to earn professional entry-level positions in business and computer-based technologies. Coursework will involve students in working collaboratively on real-world projects that are interdisciplinary in nature. All students will be provided the support of mentors in a personalized learning environment to achieve success. We will collaborate with parents, our business community, the Bay Area Coalition for Equitable Schools, the Oakland Community Organization, and the New Technology Foundation to promote our students' success.
