| Mission:
|
Kua O Ka La has chosen/adopted the concept of `Ke Ala Pono – The Right Path – to describe our approach to nurturing and developing our youth. We believe that each of our young people has a unique potential and that it is our responsibility to help them work together within the local community to create a future that is pono – right.
Kua O Ka La is designed to educate and nurture the youth of our community that are not adequately served by the present educational system, with an emphasis on reaching out to our Native Hawaiian population. Students who are academically and socially challenged will be empowered through culturally congruent, community based, hands-on learning. Programs are designed to meet or exceed state standards. Kua O Ka La is focused on incorporating native Hawaiian culture and traditions into the best of 21st century education paradigms. Students will learn different approaches to solving complex problems, to work collaboratively, take responsibility of their own actions, to evaluate their own performance and establish goals that will incorporate and understanding of the need for life long learning.
