| Mission:
|
Public School Number 18 remains focused on its mission of providing every student with the necessary lifelong skills necessary to attain world class standards and function in a literate, technological, and multicultural society. We must ensure that each child reaches his/her fullest potential so that he/she may successfully compete in an ever increasingly complex society. We realize that the maturation process must take place in a structured environment in order to develop academic excellence, personal integrity, and self-esteem. Our children should be our nation's most valuable resource, and we take our responsibility to produce leaders for the next generation most seriously. The members of our school community firmly believe that all children can learn and that learning occurs at different rates: therefore, we treat every child as an individual, with his/her own needs, goals, and values. We make every attempt possible to provide students the personal attention he/she deserves through collaborative teaching methods and guidance counseling. Teachers identify and encourage each child's strength, not only in the ascademic programs, but also in the areas of music, art, and physical education. Students can share their skills with family and community members through art exhibitions and various assemblies throughout the school year.
