Education policy and practice has been in the forefront of the news this year, amidst strong debate regarding No Child Left Behind law, the place and purpose of standardized testing, and the role and reach of teachers in determining classroom content. The Fall Forum presents a unique opportunity to come together with other educators to return to a vibrant discussion about what the 10 Common Principles mean to us as educators during times of changing administrations and policies. How do the principles anchor us in our daily work?
Join us November 9 and 10, 2012 at the Met School in Providence for our annual Conversation Among Friends. Begin the conversation Friday November 9 with a full day of intensive pedagogical support for educators provided by leaders and practitioners from across the network followed by the Friday evening panel discussion: What’s Next? Responses to the 2012 Election, with distinguished panelists: James Comer, Judith Browne-Dianis, Pedro Noguera, Warren Simmons, George Wood. This event is open to the public and co-sponsored by the Forum for Education and Democracy and the Annenberg Institute. On Saturday the conversation will continue with smaller workshops facilitated by practitioners from Essential Schools.
