Wokie Weah

Wokie Weah is Vice President of National Youth Leadership Council (NYLC). In that capacity, she oversees NYLC’s youth and schools, professional development, conference and events, and HIV/AIDS prevention initiatives, along with the development of new service-learning program models. A native of Liberia, she first came to NYLC in 1992 with comprehensive experience in education and youth development. Between 1999 and 2002, she was on UNICEF’s staff as a Project Officer for Education in Liberia, where she coordinated the Support to War-Affected Youth Project, the Juvenile Justice Initiative, African Girl Education Initiative, and Child Friendly Spaces for internally displaced children. Weah received her Master of Science in education administration from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and her bachelor’s from Adelphi University in New York. An author and widely traveled speaker, she has written numerous articles on service-learning and diversity and has spoken to groups throughout the United States and Africa. She is married with five children.
