These benchmarks are designed to help educators understand the critical elements of high achieving and equitable CES schools. This benchmark document is designed with multiple entry points. The benchmarks are divided into two categories—Classroom Practices and Organizational Practices. Classroom Practices are focused on instru
ction and address the question “What does a CES classroom look like?” by sharing how each practice is reflected in teacher work and student outcomes. Organizational Practices are those school-wide practices that support and enable the Classroom Practices. Each practice is linked with the common principles most related to its implementation. For each practice we describe the highest level of implementation in detail as well as provide descriptions for early and developing levels.
