The CES Network

The Coalition of Essential Schools is a robust network of schools, centers, organizations, and individuals working together to create and sustain personalized, equitable, and intellectually challenging schools. To become a part of our vibrant, collaborative community .

CES Schools

Despite the fact that no two CES schools are alike, they share a common set of beliefs about the purpose and practice of schooling. These Common Principles, reflect more than two decades of careful research and examined practice and are used to guide whole-school reform efforts in the areas of school design, classroom practice, leadership, and community connections. For a collection of valuable resources in these four areas, visit our resources section.

CES Centers

CES centers are affiliated organizations that provide technical assistance to schools that have embraced the Common Principles. Each CES center is an independent organization with the autonomy to create services appropriate for the schools it serves. Directors and staff from CES centers meet regularly to exchange ideas and share resources. CES Center List

Affiliation

Schools, organizations, or individuals that embrace the ideas and priorities of the Coalition may choose to associate with the network, formally and become affiliates. Here is a graphical representation of our network of schools and a description of various modes of participation.

Affiliation with CES National versus regional centers is separate. You may affiliate with CES via the national office; you may affiliate with a CES center; or you may affiliate with both. However, if you become a CES National affiliate, you do not automatically become an affiliate of a CES center - and vice versa.
