CES National Affiliation Program

For 20 years, schools around the world have embraced the Common Principles in an effort to build more humane learning communities in which all students learn to use their minds well. There are a variety of ways to participate in the CES movement. For a graphical representation of our network of schools and a description of various modes of participation, click here. One of the ways schools participate is via the CES National Affiliation Program. This program allows schools, organizations, and individuals to formally identify themselves as having made a commitment to implementing the CES Common Principles and gives them a way to support the national network.

Benefits of Affiliation:

  1. Connection with a powerful national school reform movement
  2. Opportunities for national recognition in Horace, the CES quarterly journal, and on the CES Web site
  3. Eligibility to apply for CES National research and professional development grants
  4. Eligibility for one fee waiver per session for facilitators at Fall Forum (worth up to $1200)*
  5. Discounted registration fees at Fall Forum, summer institutes, and other professional development offerings
  6. Ten subscriptions to Horace
  7. One CES Poster (for new affiliates only)
  8. One Collected Horace set (for new affiliates only)

* Each affiliate school or organization can receive up to 3 facilitator fee waivers - one per session.

In addition, for this affiliation year only, all schools affiliating for first time will receive a copy of Deborah Meier’s recent book, In Schools We Trust (while supplies last).

Early-bird Affiliation

Schools that affiliate with CES National before June 1st can save $50 off the regular affiliation fee. To become a 2005-06 CES National Affiliate, schools must complete or update the school profile on the CES Web site and pay the early-bird affiliation fee of $450 by June 1st ($500 if after June 1st).

How to Affiliate with CES National

To affiliate, please complete the following three easy steps:

  1. Login to your CES Interactive account. If you do not have one, create an account.
  2. Create a School Profile on the CES Web site.
  3. Send a check or purchase order for $500 ($450 if before June 1st) with a print-out of your completed school profile to:

    CES National
    Attn: National Affiliation
    1330 Broadway, Suite 600
    Oakland, CA 94612

To view and print out a pdf version of an invoice, click here.

You will receive a letter confirming your affiliation, which runs on a yearly cycle from August 1 through July 31.

Note: The relationship between a school and a regional center is separate from the relationship between a school and CES National. Schools that are members of a center may receive additional information from their center regarding national affiliation.
